Laptop occasionally freezes when lid moves

eDP (both signal and connector wise) is not intended to be hotplugged and if the loose connection somehow causes some pins to touch the case of the connector that could certainly cause hardware crashes or worse so that is not as strange as you’d think..

The eDP cable has a connector on both ends. Maybe the connector behind the display is loose. So check both ends of the cable.
If that does not help, try a new cable.

So I tried a new edp cable, the problem persists.

It just froze again, before luks boot password, so that cleans out KDE here I guess.

Thanks for this info. I was scratching my head with eDP on another system. This makes so much sense now that I’ve looked into this further with your pointer.

Hm so the problem disappeared after I changed the mainboard. But since changing the mainboard made me disconnect and reconnect everything, maybe it was another loose cable. Anyway, I wanted to change the mainboard, so that’s done. Thank you all!
