as of recently, it seems like the privacy switches on the bezel of my 16 have gotten loose, to the point of them switching on their own when i transport it. has anybody else experienced this issue? would this be something to contact support over?
Just seeing this post prompted me to check mine and despite my FW16 only being around 2 months old and me rarely ever turning the camera and mic on, the mic switch is WAY looser than the camera one, to the point where I don’t even need a finger nail to move it and it just barely clicks into place. I wanna say I remember it being tighter when it was new but I can’t 100% confirm it wasn’t like that to begin with.
If your FW16 isn’t that old, I would probably contact support. If you’ve had it for a while, you may end up being forced to suck it up and buy a new bezel or live with it. For the price that they are, this stings.
don’t take me wrong it’s really shitty when your expensive computer break after a few months; but every time someone mentions the cost of framework parts I’m really confused. I have always found frameworks prices quiet reasonable, I do think it’s sad they no longer sell the 55wh battery, that was a steal.
Framework is more expensive than average, but not by a tremendous amount. You’re paying for the ability to be able to repair and upgrade as time goes on which will save you money in the long term. In this situation though, the bezels are $50 and the other colors are $70. While it’s not a ton of money, $50 for it still sucks, especially if it hasn’t been that long. If it was something like $20-$30, it’d be less upsetting, but still shitty nonetheless.
I never claimed that Framework is expensive, but that the computers Framework sells is expensive. a high end cpu in a metal chassi is expensive from any vendor.
My right webcam switch was loose since day one (Framework 13). It is enough to wipe with a paper towel to turn it on. The left one is much stiffer and clicks properly when flicked.
