What kind of metal are the hinges of the Framework 13 and 16? The product descriptions don’t say.
If they’re mild steel I can repurpose my old ones and new ones by tack welding with a TIG machine. I am ok at welding but not a metallurgist.
Thanks!

I think someone is selling a set of hinges in the community market place. Why not just get those, or buy a new set?
What kind of metal? They are made out of dark metal, not shiny metal…The homer simpson answer
I believe OP meant to say that they purchased a set of new hinges, but want to use the old hinges for another project.
The best place to look for the hinge material might be the Framework Marketplace to see if they list any details or maybe their github repositories.
They likely wouldn’t list much information about the hinges though. If you didn’t care what happened to them, you could just weld it and see if it works.
Hi
I think I have found the FW documentation:
Extract:
“We use a high strength steel alloy for the hinge structure, but the size and weight of the lid are still enough for the steel to elastically deform and bounce back.”
