Hi everyone,

I ordered the Framework Laptop DIY, and I opted to get my own charger to save some money. The charger I got supports 5V3A, 9V3A, 12V3A, 15V3A, and 20V3.25A. I don’t know if it supports PPS, but it does support PD 3.0. I think the maximum charging wattage for this charger is 65W. However, I noticed that Framework’s charger only goes up to 60W.

I’m wondering, if I were to use this charger, would it charge at 65W or drop down to something lower? What is the maximum charging power the Framework Laptop can take?

Thanks in advance!

You should be all good with your charger.
The battery is limited to charging at around 1C or 55W.
However if you are charging and doing something power hungry, your battery will charge faster with a higher power charger.

I just got a [12th gen DIY laptop](https://frame.work/products/laptop-diy-12-gen-intel), brought my own 100W GaN PD charger and use a [Chipofy USB C cable](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09KLYBS5H/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1) which has a small LED screen built-in to indicate how much power is passing through the cable.

In general, the cable has indicated it’s delivering 50W - 60W when the battery is charging. However, I definitely have seen spikes in power usage that peak as high as 95W.

Would be interesting to know if there is an update to the max supported wattage (maybe because TB4 is now certified?) for those that are bringing their own chargers.

95W? That’s a lot. I havent even reached that one while gaming with my eGPU.

What did you do to reach such a high number?
