Maximum HDMI bandwidth supported

Could framework please clarify the maximum HDMI bandwidth supported by the Framework Desktop with Ryzen AI Max+ 395?

The specifications clearly state that the two DisplayPort 2.1 outputs support up to 10 Gb/s per lane, which means UHBR10 / 40 Gb/s raw bandwidth.

For HDMI, however, the specification only says HDMI 2.1.

Could you confirm which HDMI FRL mode the onboard HDMI port supports?

Specifically, is it:

  • FRL5: 4 × 10 Gb/s = 40 Gb/s raw
  • FRL6: 4 × 12 Gb/s = 48 Gb/s raw

I am asking because I plan to use at 5120×2880 @ 165 Hz, 10-bit, and I would like to understand whether HDMI provides more available bandwidth than the onboard DisplayPort UHBR10 outputs.

It would also be useful to know whether the HDMI output is native from the AMD display engine or routed through an onboard DP-to-HDMI converter/retimer.

If you know of a Linux command that can obtain some of your required information, do add it to the post; a helpful Desktop owner might spot it and run it for you.

5120x2880@165hz 10bit using online calculator = 78.84Gbps. displayport 2.1 uhbr20 is 80Gbps. you need dp2.1-uhbr20 i think
