Network Connection Problem

I have a:
Framework Laptop 16 DIY Edition
(AMD Ryzen 7040 Series) - Ryzen 7 7840Hs - 180W
FRAGAB000G
Manufactured 05/2024
I am running Linux EndeavourOS - VERSION=2025.03.19 - kernal: 6.12.58-1-lts

I turned it on this morning to find two problems which were not present when I turned the machine off yesterday. I did a “yay -Syu” upgrade yesterday,11/23, and the machine ran fine. It was OK when I shut down. I was unable to get any network connections. I shut down and restarted my modem and router twice with no success. I rebooted into another kernal. I checked my desktop machine which is running the same operating system and it connects to my network. What can I do??

I have a second, small but irritating issue - the desktop background. I have (or had) a solid background color for my background. That background was replaced by another xfce standard background. I have been unable to change back to my original background. My “Settings - Desktop” screen no longer gives me the “backgrounds” option where I would be able to choose “Color - solid color”.

I get the feeling there are several OS problems lurking within the system. If I could connect with my network, I would reinstall my OS.

Can you give me some help?

Resolved

if you don’t mind me asking, what was the resolution?

I am back up and my network connection is working.

I had been afraid my WiFi card was on the fritz. I was getting anxious because I could not restart my machine and have it make a network connection. I restarted my computer several times. I even tried booting into fallback kernels without success.

This morning I gave up and tried restoring from TimeShift (which I have never been successful in doing before) and it worked. I don’t know why it worked but it did and I am satisfied.
