Newly assembled AMD laptop stuck on Windows launch

Framework Laptop 16 DIY Edition (AMD Ryzen™ AI 300 Series)

I have built desktops in the past. Im a novice game pc builder.

This problem has me stumped. I’ve tried the Reddit fixes. Tried safe mode launch still no good. I just see the Framework name and a endless windows loading icons. I need a fix or I am returning this machine. Too expensive not to work.

I don’t know what you mean on: Stuck in Windows Launch.

We’ll need more details if you want some help.
If you really want to know if everything works right, take a “recent” linux distribution (kubuntu 26.04) ISO, boot into live mode and check if everything is working as expected.
If yes, the Windows you put on it is broken somewhere.

What steps did you use to install windows?
This guide might help:

Specifically, the part were is talks about adding the FW specific drivers during the install process.

Note. There are mainly other users like you here. If you wish official FW support, fill in the support form on their web site.

As a general thought, symptoms like you have can be caused by faulty SSDs, so that might be a good place to start in diagnosing the problem.

Also, you have a 30 days no questions asked, return policy with FW, so make sure you raise the FW support ticket before the 30 days expires.

Also, the suggestion above about making a Linux bootable usb-stick / ISO is a good idea.
What that will do, will boot the laptop from a USB stick and display a GUI Desktop, where you can browse the internet etc.
At least then, if you can show the laptop booting and working, you will know the laptop hardware itself is OK, and the problems you are seeing is specific to windows. I.e. most likely to be driver or install problems on windows.
Of course, if the Linux does not boot, it will probably mean some hardware problem.

Thanks for reaching out. Based on what you’re experiencing, this is something our Support team is best equipped to look into, since they can check your hardware details and guide you through the right steps.

To get in touch with them, you can do the following:

•From the forums, click Support at the top of the page.

•Scroll all the way down.

•Click Submit support request and fill out the form.

•Then submit it at the bottom.

Once that’s in, the Support team will review everything and get back to you as soon as possible. If anything else comes up or you need help finding the right page, just let us know.

If getting stuck at the part where it says you have to connect to the Internet to continue, a USB Ethernet adapter or USBC hub with Ethernet and a network cable will allow it to connect to the Internet and continue the install. Then the framework driver pack can be downloaded with the WiFi drivers to enable the card.

If it is stating there is no drive available to install windows sometimes this can happen with some older repurposed SSD drives. (Had one from a Dell machine that did this one two different machines but in an external enclosure it shows up fine)

We are all end users here on the forums. We would love to point in the right direction but context or screenshots are necessary. We have not evolved to remote mind reading yet.

Welcome to the community too!
