I’ve had my Framework Laptop 13 AMD 7840U since February without much issues- the laptop typically boots in seconds but sometimes (maybe around 1 in 10 startups?) I’m met with a black screen for about a minute or more before the Framework logo appears and the laptop boots into Windows normally. This issue has persisted since I got the laptop. I’ve been running Windows 11, currently version 24H2 as of a few days ago.

Today I finally caught the side LED code with my phone camera and the color sequence was: WGGGGGGGGGGGRRGGBBBBGG

I tried finding a support article to interpret this myself but I can’t seem to find much info on the Knowledge Base about AMD LED codes.

Welcome to the forum!

Unfortunately, Framework has not provided any led code information for Intel or AMD beyond the 11th gen Intel mainboards.

These codes may or may not have changed between board generations.
Here is the link for the 11th gen codes

This behavior also occurs on my Framework Laptop 16, but I am not certain what is causing it. If you want more information, you can file a support ticket and ask Framework Support.

If you do find the cause or there is a solution to make it boot faster, please post updates to this thread,

After booting my laptop up today, it hung on the black screen again and I got the LED sequence: WGGGGGGGGGGGRRGGGBGBBG

After a minute, I got a BSOD with the stop code: UNEXPECTED\_STORE\_EXCEPTION

I’ll file a support ticket with Framework Support.
