I would like to buy a pre-built FWK13 pro with a french keyboard.
It seems this is not an option and the DIY version is mandatory if I want a french keyboard.
The problem is that the DIY cost very much by far.
It’s 2699€ for the DIY where the prebuilt is 2369€ . This means I’ll pay 330€ to get the french keyboard, I’m right?
The other option would be to buy a separate keyboard and throw away the english version immediately ootb (obviously no one in France will buy me a english keyboard as a spare) which is, I think, the opposite of the FWK mindset of repairability.
I’ve not been able to get an official answer from the support. The only official response is to buy a french input for 199euros whereas the keyboard would be enough.
I still do not understand why we have to throw away to the trash a brand New keyboard? => no official answer on this question.
I do not understand why on the french landing page there is the pre-built displayed even if there is no french keyboard available: this is misleading and I’ve not been able to get an official answer why this is misleading and why there is no french keyboard…
The prebuilt is only available with like 3 keyboards, this isn’t a problem unique to the French keyboard. I can’t get a Slovene prebuilt either.
If one of the prebuilt layouts matches French, you do not need to buy the entire cover, only the keyboard part, which is around 50€ (this is my plan). Just make sure the keys actually match, as the US layout has different keys from most Euro layouts as far as I know.
Hard to say where you pay more for DIY we need your Chosen configuration but I was able to save a lot by not buying RAM and SSD at Framework. For Intel the RAM is the part that costs a lot. With eBay you can sell any english keyboard it isn’t too hard for shipping, you’ll get a cardboard box with a new keyboard to send the US one off.
