I understand the Audio Expansion Card is an upgrade to the audio board kit on my Framework 13 7040 mainboard, but what about this Audio Board Kit? Is this identical to the audio board kit I have on my stock mainboard?
The Audio Expansion Card is an expansion card that connects to the machine over USB. It contains a separate USB DAC and a 3.5mm TRRS socket.
The Audio Board Kit is a PCB that you install inside the chassis of a Framework Laptop 13. It contains the 3.5" TRRS socket, the lid sensor, and no audio decoding hardware.
The expansion card is not a replacement for the audio board.
The audio board is identical to the one present in your machine, and installing a new one will not upgrade your audio capabilities.
