For anyone using Framework Desktop for both office and gaming, what monitor sizes and resolutions do you find optimal for the mixed use cases? Do you switch to lower resolutions during gaming for better FPS?
Ideally I’d use 4k for office and 1080p or 1440p for gaming, but if I’m only getting one monitor, a 4k one might look blurry or pixelated when lowering the resolution, so I’m looking to hear more about everyone’s experiences.

My use case is exactly the same, I would say 60-70% work, office, and stuff, and the rest games, movies, YouTube, browsing, etc.
And I got a new screen for my FW Desktop. I went with a 27” IPS Alienware AW2724DM 1440p 180Hz, after watching a dozen reviews for my budget. I found this to be the sweetspot for me. I upgraded from a 24” 60Hz screen. Everything with the screen is great: colors, brightness, blacks, refresh rate, RGBs, etc.
The only bad thing is their software. You need to install it only for RGB and custom profiles and so on, so I installed it, did my settings, and uninstalled it, because it’s running in the background like crazy.
I use the OLED LG Ultragear 32”. It has the option to switch to between 4k and 1080p for faster refresh rate gaming. Works quite well.
The 32 inch can be a big big, but I push the monitor a bit farther back on my desk. I think there’s a 27” version as well.
What FPS are you playing? How much the GPU struggles pushing 4K depends on what you run, how far away you are sitting from it and the diagonal. I have a 4K HP Omen 32” OLED and am perfectly happy. My FD runs Linux exclusively–if I’m doing gaming more demanding than Timberborners, I’m probably firing up my Windows gaming PC anyway.
I went with dual 27” 1080p at 60Hz and plan to upgrade to 100Hz soon. For an iGPU this is well within the bounds of its capability for both office/gaming. It really depends on your preference, I have seen the bump between 1440p and 1080p is marginal when viewing from a good distance. Plus it all also depends on the quality of the LCD panel.
