Oh. When you put in the hold request at FedEx, it should trigger a hold at the depot /hub closest to your delivery address. I wish I could guarantee an automatic hold, that would make everyone’s life much easier. Unfortunately, I don’t think anyone can guarantee it when using any of the couriers (FedEx, UPS, USPS, DHL, Amazon), etc.
I can’t even get Amazon to deliver to a certain spot at my own house. It’s a crap shoot. Front door, side door, back door… and they’ll even drop it off at my garage door… right where I’ll run the package over when backing out.
I’ll shoot you a DM. Send me the order number and email address used to contact support and I’ll be happy to check it out for you and let you know what’s going on.
Amazon and others have actually forced me into needing a signature upon delivery, so it gave me windows of time opportunities and it wasn’t always that expensive of orders? In something like your top 16: customers and I would love that option? yeah they’ll put them everywhere and anywhere Amazon’s got a preferred spot area that you can mark Cuz I work third so under the porch is best, I’d say, about half of them read it and put it there? Doh!
Hey… so didnt want to leave you hanging without Followup. I shared your feedback to my internal teams today. The type of FedEx account we have doesn’t yet allow signature required for international shipments… but the good news is that its on Fedex’s road map for possible rollout in 2027. We are going to look into it again then.
I didn’t realize the email side of our conversation was still going here, sorry… L L.
Mine was available when I ordered it. For the batch orders to get rolling is one thing, but then here (probably there too) we have to put up with racism, politics and tariffs as mine sat in Customs for most of the wait of it getting here. Again I was watching it travel closely and it seemed like they were blocking the tracking almost at times; but, that’s probably just my tin foil hat talking?
Hello everyone, I’m in a similar situation as amorette’s son as I’ll be joining college in France in September. If I order a framework PC without any preorder limited items, do I still have a chance to receive it by Sep. 7th or am I too late? And about the preoder limited items, do we know if they will come in early september and if people in Europe will receive them at a similar time as US citizens?
I’m not an employee, but I think there is a general understanding amongst customers that this the 13 Pro is a pre-order product. This model has already been delayed a month across the board, and most customers understand why - they’re so new the company is still ironing out design kinks.
I would doubt that three weeks is likely - and that’s even without stuff not getting stuck in courier hell. I wonder if it might be better to get it shipped to France.
It mostly depends what you plan to order. If its FW13 Pro, there is zero chance that you would get it in three weeks.
The older models, atleast the DIY versions seem to be in stock but with the current ssd/ram prices, unless you have your own, you are going to be paying a lot.
If you order in-stock only items, we usually ship within 5 business days. If you order a pre-order item… its going to depend on the configuration and Batch as to when it will ship.
Is it worth starting a new thread for this, Ed? This thread is about whether Framework is a real company. Your post might get missed here, as this one looks to be resolved/resolving.
(If you are happy to start a new thread, copy that all to your clipboard, hit the bin icon inside the triple dots, and post it as a new thread in the FW 13 channel).
Ah, this is the right thing to do. There is a bit of a backlog at the moment, I will get you a link for that.
Update
Here ya go:
The challenges of working with a small hardware company, eh!
(A philosophical note on laptops - I always try to have a rubbish or old one spare, so that receiving a new one is never an emergency. I type on a six-year-old Dell XPS 15, which is literally falling apart, and likely to suffer a mobo overheat at any moment. I think it can keep me going until my FW 13 Pro arrives in a forthcoming batch).
I just wanted to thank everyone for keeping me off the cliff while waiting for my son’s computer to be delivered. It did show up in time for him to assemble and work on it before college.
Thank you to Eagle and Squiggler for following up and provide good advice.
Just saw this. I’m happy the community and I could help! We really do have a great community here! Please tell your son he should make an account. There’s a lot of fun things, even if he doesn’t need support. There’s tips, tricks, even projects for 3D prints that are compatible. Many Colleges / Universities have 3D printers on site now.
How are you getting on, Ed? Let us know if you’re now up and running!
If not, I’d suggest again creating a new thread - it sounds like you have a new machine but that your RAM is incompatible. I’d thus say that your machine is not necessarily DOA, just needing different RAM. The community would be happy to help with that (ideally, as I say, on another thread).
