[RESOLVED] Ubuntu 22.04 -- Xmonad function keys are not working

Hello! I just received my 13’ framework DIY edition laptop. I’ve got it all put together, and I’ve installed Ubuntu 22.04. I am running under xmonad.

Everything works great, except most of the function key shortcuts don’t work – I cannot change the volume, move in media, or change brightness.

I haven’t had an opportunity to try f9, and airplane mode seems to work (f10). f11 and f12 don’t

I used evtest, and the correct events are sending (KEY_MUTE for fn+f1), but nothing seems to happen.

Does anyone have an idea how to fix them?

Thank you!

Hi @Eli_Davis welcome to the forums,

function keys work on Ubuntu 22.04 by default, It must be an xmonad configuration and its known issues with wayland, maybe try to switch to X display server?

a friendly reminder we only test and support default window manager and Desktop environment that comes with Ubuntu 22.04 and above.

by the way, I have added Xmonad to the title, cheers!

Ah, you’re right – when I log on with gnome as normal, everything works.

Thank you!
