Screen glitch when power in perfomance mode

Hello everyone, firstly it’s my first post here and english isn’t my first language, sorry if my english isn’t clear or that i forgot some rules, i will do my best. Thank you.

So, for the context here are my specs :

  • Model : Framework laptop 13 AMD (bought late 2024)
  • OS : Windows 11
    CPU : amd 7640U
  • RAM : G.Skill RipJaws Series SO-DIMM 16 Go DDR5 5600 MHz CL40
  • Storage : SN770 NVMe - WD_BLACK - 1 To - M.2 2280 - WDS100T3X0E

It’s been around a year that I replaced my windows 11 with Atlas OS, it worked fine etc… But i wanted to reintialize my PC like I like to do one time a year but it didn’t work due to this OS. So the solution according to their guide, is to reinstall windows 11 and here to do the reinitialization.

I’ve done it without issue apparantly but one problem appeared. When my laptop is in charge + power mode in “best performances”, then the screen will have some glitch/flickering that appears only when i played some games that were a bit demanding.

Troubleshooting done :

  • The drivers install like the first time, and even did the update of my bios.
  • Tried 2 type of charge cable and nothing changes.
    • testing the performances modes in battery mode/charge mode to find that it was the best performances mode that create the issue
  • Manually choosing and testing each drivers in my laptop for the GPU
  • New reinstall of Windows 11 (while keeping data)
  • (In Bios) load optimal settings

I hope my post was clear, don’t hesitate to ask me for clarification.

Thank you for your time.

SOLUTION

Thank God I’ve found the solution (here around 3h40AM !!!) It’s really simple but absolutely needs a software to do it without problems. For now it seems to work, i will give a feedback tomorrow.

Time requiered : 10min ~

Disclaimer : I’ve reinstalled Atlas OS before doing that, so it may not work for you.

What you need :

  • Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU)

-> link for the download, i downloaded the Mirror (EU) : https://www.guru3d.com/download/display-driver-uninstaller-download
It is recommanded to do it in safe mode, but i didn’t do it :face_in_clouds:

:warning: DO IT STEP BY STEP to be sure to be in the same condition and read all of it before beginning please, it will prevent the errors :warning:

STEPS :

  1. extract the zip file and click on the .exe

  2. self-extracting archive window open, click on “Extract

  3. A folder named “DDU v18.1.5.6” (the version when i write this tutorial so it may be different for you) will appear, double click on it

  4. Click on the Display Driver Unistaller.exe and click on yes

  5. A disclaimer will appear in front of the window, read it, it may be important for you, then click on “ok”

  6. An Options window will appear, DON’T TOUCH IT i didn’t do anything here, click on “close”

  7. If like me you are not in safe mode a window will appear, just click “ok”

  8. Now you are on the software Firstly click on “Select device type” and select “GPU”. And then you click on "Clean and restart"

  1. Follow the instructions, let your computer restart automatically !

And that’s it ! I hope that my tutorial is clear, if you have any question don’t hesitate !

Update :

The problem came back

I’m waiting the support from framework, i’ve contacted them

maybe windows has updated drivers to something newer than what is available in driver pack?

Hi, so I tried to install ubuntu, the screen is bugging (but already bugging before), i tried with fedora, also bugging

Please post a link to a video showing the problem.

Hi,

I think you will need FW support for that.
My guess is it needs a replacement display panel.

okay, i’m currently exchanging with them by mail, i hope it will be soon resolved haha

thanks for you time !
