My 7040 Laptop 16 was a preorder, I got it in April 2024 without the graphics module and it became my main PC. In November last year I got a 1st gen RX7700S module.
Everything worked until January, when I resumed the laptop from sleep, got a split second of Windows lock screen and then the laptop turned off. It would not turn back on. To skip over a lot of troubleshooting and back-and-forth with support, both RAM modules and the motherboard had died. Once they were replaced, it became clear the graphics module was also unwell. It would work on the internal display but not through its USB port. Eventually that was replaced too, and then everything worked fine… until yesterday, when I turned the laptop on, got a brief Framework logo.. and then it turned off.
This time, only the graphics module seems to have been affected. It’s back to how it was, working on the internal display but not through its USB port. Integrated graphics from the side USBs works fine.
All I can say for sure is that when the first Incident happened, I had my charger, (Delta ADB-240KB BA) plugged in but it was itself not plugged into the mains. And when the second Incident happened, I had my monitor (Viewsonic VP2785-2K) plugged into the graphics module. Both monitor and charger pre-date the issues.
I have contacted support again about this, but I thought I would see if anyone here had any clue, or if not at least get it on record here.
