Sensel Force Haptic Touchpad?

Chiming in to say that I would also be very interested in a haptic trackpad option for Framework’s line of laptops

Another +1 for a sensel aftermarket replacement of the trackpad for the Framework 13 series.

These type of aftermarket mods is what would really elevate the framework laptop above others

For anyone reading this thread,
One thing you can do to help is to try to get the specs and engineering info from Sensel to get that in the hands of the guy earlier in this thread trying to make an option for us:

Even just news on an external usb option would be useful.

Edit:
Another idea; ripping them out of broken thinkpads. However, bear in mind that there are at least 2 different grades of Sensel touchpads, with a cheaper one mentioned in linus’ video

Would be fantastic to escape from apple

Would the form factor match?

This would be so awesome. Also hoping for a module in the Framework 16, it seems to be destined for that kind of upgrade.

Soooooo…it can be done. May I suggest we get on figuring out who the supplier is and how to get it modded into our systems?

+1 for a Sensel Trackpad!
With that the Framework 13 could literally become the best Laptop. (which it already is, but a Sensel trackpad would convince even a lot of Apple users)
I would immediately upgrade to a Sensel Trackpad, if offered on the Marketplace.

Would love to see this. Only thing preventing me from switching is the diveboard style trackpad right now. I’m sure it’s the same for many other Apple users.

Seriously need this as an upgrade, the dive board on my framework 13 is really painful to use and depending on how I position it on my lap and how the chassis flexes it can have like a second click sound when you release the click or two click sounds going down because there’s some play.

Had this on two separate input covers and all around haptic is just so much better.

Is there anything in the works with this or? I love to see framework diversifying but equally like this definitely should have been part of the input cover 2nd gen upgrade tbh.

I suggest trying one of their touchpads before getting to excited. I’ve used it on the Surface Laptop 7 and it was attrocious. I’m sure the hardware is ok (maybe), but the implementation via software (i.e. driver) sucks. Total opposite of precision, no interia, no deceleration. I know the MAC is ok (I wouldn’t say the best), best I’ve used are Lenovo implementations (especially via Chrome OS)

Interesting, I thought the consensus was that Apple’s trackpads are far superior.

Makes sense, since they receive the most backing from Lenovo.

Good to see Framework is iterating on haptic touchpads, although all the problems they mentioned aren’t applicable to the 13 sooooo, I still want one to get released, at least for the 13!

I was so excited for the haptic touchpad in the framework 16. I don’t understand their reasoning of ‘oh we wanted to test on a bigger touchpad’. Like dude, just give me a haptic touchpad the size of a mac and I shall place an instant order. What is the need for testing on a wide haptic touchpad? Doesn’t make any sense. This is the only thing holding me from placing an order for a framework laptop.

You clearly missed the bit in his explanation of trying the larger pad so they didn’t need to move it sideways with the different keyboard positions.

I did not miss anything. My point is can they at least let the people that want the trackpad on the center have like a haptic option? I would literally buy this laptop if they have a haptic option.

What, including the problems they were describing, or would you then be complaining how they hadn’t done a proper job with the haptic trackpad? There is a reason they haven’t gone with it which they enumerated pretty well in the video.
