Damn, guess all of us i5 Batch 3 people have to wait a while lol. Still haven’t gotten any card charge or further emails and I pretty much ordered the moment Batch 3 began last July
Be patient, I am batch 2 and still waiting sooooo…
Me in Batch 4:
Checking for the “Your Order Has Shipped” email like
Just got my “Preparing to ship your order” email.
Batch 3, i7 no vpro, 2x16GB, Wifi no vpro, providing my own drives (which I regret - would rather have given FW the money, even if I did save $60) - 2xWD SN750 (one for the laptop, one for… experimenting )
Ordered 7/29, batch notification 9/7, ship notification 9/13.
Gettin real excited…!

Also ordered an i5 on july 27th, but no charge email yet. I did have support modify my order a day after I got the preparing to ship batch email, so either that pushed my order back slightly or I’m in the next wave. Either way, congrats to everyone getting their laptops soon!

Sadly, I just learned that Intel disabled undervolting on their 10th & 11th gen chips. Which really sucks because one of the faults of Tiger Lake is temperatures. I’ll have to see how it goes in practice, but I was really looking forward to seeing what kind of difference I could make with an undervolt.
I won’t lie, it does kind of make me wonder if I should have gotten a Thinkpad instead now that the the Ryzen 5000U chips are available. Fans/temps are one of the things that annoy me about my employer-provided Dell laptop; I just assumed I’d be able to undervolt my own machine (which made a big difference in my Ryzen desktop).
That’s good to hear. The fans on my work laptop (Dell Latitude with a 10610U) ramps up seemingly randomly. Our internal IT won’t let me install HWINFO so I don’t have actual temps, but the chassis definitely gets hot, and I will often hear the fans suddenly go all out for 10-15 seconds even when sitting idle on my desk.
After looking longingly at my “Preparing to ship” email for the fifth time today, I realized with a sense of crushing dread my zip code had one digit wrong. Praying support sees my email in time so it doesn’t get delayed. Anyone consider giving their credit card provider a heads up that they are about to be billed?
That sounds about right. The only way I can get any work done is by pausing OneDrive on startup every morning - if I didn’t, I would regularly see CPU spikes up to 90% while in idle. Since this doesn’t happen on my personal computers, I have to assume it’s our corporate malware synergizing delightfully with Microsoft’s malware.
Maybe try “Open Hardware Monitor” If you just want to monitor thermals over the course of a work day it seemed to install on my IT-monitored machine no problem (It might just be me out-thinking my IT department).
Ordered Aug 1st, got the “We’re preparing to ship your order” message last night. Looking at everyone else’s timeframes, looks like I might have it middle of next week!
Ordered Aug 18th, Batch confirmation Sept 7th, i7, 16GB Ram, 1TB SSD. Super excited seeing other people getting “Preparing to ship” notifications! It’s so close
