[Showcase] Single piece touchpad module

Hi Andrew,

The Framework Laptop 16 input deck has some very small features. The real touchpad module has an injection molded plastic piece that is glued to the aluminum facade. I uploaded the Fusion 360 project file to the Printable’s page so you can update and or modify the model however you see fit.

Amazing design. Just wondering how you put the screws in, since the Framework screws aren’t self-tapping ?

If you apply even pressure while screwing in the Framework screws then you can cut threads into the 3D printed plastic. Don’t over tighten them or you’ll strip out the plastic threads.

I had to go down a slightly different route by applying some heat with a soldering iron, but the result is amazing. Thanks so much for the fantastic work. Happy to send you a 1-piece version if you’d like.

Now im curious. Would framework sell these plastic touchpads in their store like the cooler master case for the framework 13

Anyone tried the FW STL on a P2S yet? It barely fits the plate but has to be stood upright and looks like it will end badly lol

For anyone wondering, you can print this vertically corner to corner on a P2S. Just. With a lot of supports.

Only printed on Basic PLA as a proof of concept but actually pretty pleased with the build and feel. Kind of digging the slightly transparent look.

Not overly thrilled with how the touchpad screws feel in the the print just biting the plastic but seems to hold pretty well so far..
