I cannot get my network to connect on arch with the networkmanager backend. If installing from a blank arch ISO I can use IWD during setup and it kinda works after install if I keep using the IWD backend but not very well.
Attempting to use a different distro such as Endeavor just does not work and gets stuck in a loop of “configuring interface” before disconnecting, same behavior if using the networkmanager backend on a manual arch/kde install.
tested with Latest Version of Archinstall script as of 9/29 and latest Endeavor OS ISO as of 9/30

I’ve since switched to Gentoo a year or two ago, but I ran Arch for a couple years on the FW 16 without much issue. I forget which backends I used, but it was definitely one that you’ve already mentioned. I never had an issue, so unfortunately I can’t help you troubleshoot other than to provide hope that what you’re trying to do should work.
dang, love how I keep finding weird issues only I can replicate.
Ive seen some people saying its an issue with the mediatek wifi card in the fw16 so I was thinking about replacing it with an Intel AX210.
It should be compatible if my research is correct and if it solves my issue I’ll update here!
Update as promised already:
So turns out that some WiFi networks are very picky about system time. I was able to (at least mostly) fix the issue by forcing a clock sync on windows. This allowed me to connect in the EndeavorOS Live ISO and also fixed my windows WiFi being very slow and unreliable when connecting.
I’ll still probably swap the WiFi card since I already ordered it and it was $20, but for anyone else having this issue going forward, try to sync your system clock and see if that helps at all!
Ah yes, I’ve heard of that before. Never would’ve remembered it though. Great detective work!
