I haven’t been using my Framework 12 for a while, since I was waiting for a hardware replacement. Yesterday I finally got it replaced and started up the computer again. I installed some updates that were pending, including the update to the latest firmware version (03.07).

Now, however, I discover that the stylus no longer works on certain apps, where it worked perfectly before. The cursor moves with the stylus, but touching the screen gives no input: nothing happens. I can’t draw or click on menu items or anything.

The apps in which I noticed this behavior so far are Krita and Obsidian. (The stylus works as expected in a number of other apps, including GIMP, Xournal).

Has anyone had the same problem? Could it be related to the firmware update? What’s the common denominator between Krita and Obsidian?

My Stylus has been requiring higher and higher pressure to register for a while to the point I fear breaking the screen, then I tried using another USI stylus I had from my old Android tablet. It was dead, so I plugged it in, and it worked perfect. I then tried plugging my framework stylus in, and it started working perfectly again, despite reporting 100% battery in Gnome. I left it to charge for an hour and it works perfect now.

I did do a whole sleuth of steps to troubleshoot, most of which I gleamed from this knowledgebase article - I would follow that if charging your stylus doesn’t fix anything. None of what I did ended up mattering since in my case it was just a need to charge.

Thanks for the response. I doubt this is hardware related, since the behavior varies from app to app. In some apps, it works fine. I also charged it to 100% and the problem remained.

I’ll take a look at the troubleshooting guide, though

Using fedora 43 and a metapen m2 stylus, and I recently got the same issue on Krita too. I figured out that I have to press down the touchpad in order for the stylus to detect input, seems like a software issue.

I tried that, but it had not effect.

An update: Yesterday I updated the OS to Fedora 44, and the problem disappeared. So, all’s well that ends well.
