Stylus too noisy

Hi guys,

I’m now a proud owner of the framework 12. I really wanted this device to be able to sell my tablet and not carry my heavy laptop at work/school. I like the device but i do have an issue with it:

The stylus is too noisy! Even being careful and not pressing a lot, i can hear the tap tap tap from the other room. You guys have any solution? thanks

The issue is sort of two-fold. The tip of the Framework stylus is hard plastic, and there is the tiniest bit of play. So it clicks slightly when tapped against the screen. A matte/paperlike screen protector can help a tiny bit, as it can deaden the sound slightly vs. just tapping directly against the glass. Not a huge difference, so I wouldn’t do this unless you like the idea of having a matte screen.

The other option is a bit of a shame because it means getting a different stylus. But you could get a different stylus. Some of them have a more rubbery tip and they make less noise as you tap them against the screen.

Oh, and welcome to the community!

I quite like the bubblegum stylus and i’d rather not change it if not necessary.

On my tablet i do have a paperlike protector but i changed the tip to a metallic one to solve the wear issue. I don’t know if tips like that are available for the Framework stylus (and if they are noisier than the plastic one). What’s a “matte” screen? If it protects the screen and reduces the noise, i’m gonna buy one just to be sure.

Oh, the matte screen protector is just like the paperlike, but slightly thinner and smoother. It certainly wouldn’t improve the issue if the paperlike one didn’t.

On the tablet, yes, it improved the situation a bit. I’m gonna try it, hoping it won’t wear the tip as the paperlike does.

Any advice on which one to buy?

I’m not sure what other options are out there, but the company “ViaScreens” has custom screen protectors for the Framework 12.
