I am using what I think is the secondary drive (smaller footprint under the larger M2.220) for the OS, and the primary M2.220 drive as my /home mount point. I transferred the M2.220 drive with /home from my old laptop.

Just curious if there is enough thermal pad area for the top drive. I see a small thin grey thermal pad attached to the mid-plate. I am used to larger thermal pads (see the blue thermal pad in the photo). Should I replace the grey one or use both?

Thanks,

Mark

I don’t think there’s any harm in replacing the pad, but while there are many issues people have voiced regarding the FW 16 I’ve not heard anyone report that their SSD is getting too hot. The provided thermal pads seem to work well enough.

I’m no stranger to modifying my FW16, but I’ve left the ssd pads stock so far.
