Things that broke on my framework laptop in the first 18 months

Things that broke on my framework 16 laptop in the first 18 months of ownership:

  • Mainboard
  • GPU Fan
  • Entire GPU module
  • Trackpad module
  • Keyboard module

Things that didn’t break:

  • RAM
  • SSD
  • Screen
  • Expansion cards

I think more things broke than didn’t break.

Genuinely, what is wrong with this laptop that causes so many things to blow up? Something is seriously wrong with the design of the framework 16. I had a total of 0 issues with the framework 13, doing only optional upgrades.

Was that all fixed under warranty? Sounds expensive otherwise.

OPs real name is Mike Rowe.

Things that broke on my Framework 16 in the first 15 months of ownership (because I haven’t had it more than that yet):

Nothing.

Either everything is going to go to hell for me in the next three months, or you’re much harder on your laptop than I, or you received a particularly unfortunate set of lemons.

Moving into my 17th month. I can also make a list as well.

Things that broke: 1 USB port… sorta, but they just sent me a new motherboard all together.

Things that haven’t broke: WiFi card, SSD, Trackpad, Keyboard, Fans, Speakers, Motherboard (for the most part), dGPU, GPU fan.

So I’m in for it in the next month.

Nothing.

Same, over a year in. Other than the liquid metal fiasco.

Daily workhorse, work and personal use. Taken to site, chucked around. etc.

As I already said in another thread. It all comes down to how you treat your device.
I have on my desk a 6 year old Dell Lattitude 7400 that looks like new, where everything works.
Same for my FW 16 (Batch one) - still looks like new and everything works.
