Hey there, I was looking into getting a USB C to A expansion card but it would cost me around 33$ CAD which is quite a bit more than I would like to drop at the moment. Anyways, I was curious if anyone had success using a third party adapter instead. It would be ideal if there was one that happened to be nearly the same length as an expansion card, and then you could just 3D print a plastic chassis for it. Was looking at the one Anker makes although it seems to be too thick, and likely too short as I plan to use a mouse dongle and it would likely bulge too much.
See the dongle hider thread, community.frame.work/t/dongle-hider/3573/. If you go through the thread you’ll find that people have used a number of different off-the-shelf USB-C to A adapters.
Hack the shell off any that are too thick? Plastic is easier to cut, but aluminum shells can be cut too.
