Touchpad click after release issue

When I right-click (by tapping 2 fingers on the touchpad), and then move over to an option, as I release my finger it performs a click.
This might seem handy because you don’t need an extra tap after right click but it’s actually really annoying.

This occurs for rightclick context menus in Firefox, Terminal and Dolphin, but oddly enough doesn’t occur in Steam and Discord for example.

It seems to be caused by the “Tap-and-drag” touchpad setting in KDE Plasma, as disabling it makes this issue go away - but disabling it is not ideal, this is a good feature that’s a default in Windows systems for example… Enabling “Allow briefly lifting finger during tap-and-drag” doesn’t fix it either, the unwanted extra tap is just delayed.

Has anyone encountered this issue? Is there a known workaround?
Maybe this is a KDE specific issue - how can I verify this, is there a program to visualize touchpad taps or should I boot into Windows…?
if it helps I’m running Fedora 42 KDE on a Framework 13 (AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX370), from Batch 7 of the latest FW13.
