Yo! Anyone having issues, feel free to ping me. I dont necessarily get notified otherwise. Happy to take a look at the serial numbers and go from there. For Top cover, definitely ping me.
Would it be the serial number of the device as a whole, or are they exclusive to top and bottom covers?
I can definitely send it over, as well as my current support ticket’s reference, if that’d be helpful?
It would be the SN of the cover. Unfortunately, that’s usually only on the box or in your order… but Im happy to check for you.
Edit: please be patient with me as I also have a huge escalation queue backlog. Ill prioritize you as much as possible. Thanks in advance.
Ofc! Take your time. I’ll dm you the info soon.
Have I said recently that our community rocks? You guys are what makes the job worth doing ( other than I really really like our mission and products ). Thank you!
Thanks @Eagle. I have a crack starting in my batch 7 lavender top cover. My bottom cover already cracked and was replaced (likely with original stock, but it’s still holding up). I haven’t submitted a ticket yet. Just pinging you in response to your post. Thank you!
I also had cracks on my sage f12. Over the July holiday weekend they went back and forth with me with rapid replies. I had a new cover in the post by Tuesday and installed by the next weekend. This was amazing service as far as I’m concerned.
Hey! Shoot me your order details in DM and Ill get you sorted!
It looks like my chassis is developing these cracks, too, which is a major bummer. I just received my Framework 12 on the 1st of this month (August), it hasn’t even been a full week yet! I’m absolutely certain I haven’t overtorqued these screws, as per the other thread mentions. I don’t know if somehow I got an old, bad chassis and their QA missed mine somehow or if the new, updated chassis still have this problem. Here’s to hoping my top lid doesn’t develop any cracks either, other than this issue I really love this laptop!
Upon Further inspection at the request of support i did find that a crack was starting on the backside of the lid on 1 side, its just extremely hard to see the cracks forming with the black colorway. Support has been getting back to me daily so far, still waiting to see what they are going to do.
Well, blast. My latest Sage bottom case is starting to crack at the corner of one of the expansion ports.
Is it updated??
Support said it was the new version when they shipped it. I think it was dated in November, which is prior to the date Eagle said all colors were definitely the new version. But some colors were supposedly the new version prior to that (how much prior?). Either way, it’s starting to crack. It’s small right now, but it’s unmistakable, and now that it’s there, I’m sure it will spread fast. It’s starting right from the corner of the expansion card slot and running out at a roughly 45 degree angle, just like so many others here.
Edit: It’s only about 1/4" long right now, but once a crack starts, it tends to spread much more easily than it starts.
Seems like the only thing that can maybe be trusted is the date stamped on the packaging.
What a total bummer.
Still lurking to give affected users a glimmer of hope from time to time. My bottom replacement cover that I installed mid May 2026 had a package date of 10/2026 and it’s holding up so far.
Admittedly I rarely use the notebook - only on travels - but that was the same with multiple cracked bottom covers before that too. Took it on a few trips already and it’s holding up so far. The other cracks most likely were not caused by usage anyway. Just appeared after a short time usually (after a few days to a few weeks at most). With the laptop just laying around.
Hope you all get sorted soon too.
Let’s get a ticket opened. Ask to be escalated to me or DM me the case number once you do. We will want to capture the cover for analysis, after I check the serial number of the cover from the system.
We will get you another sent out with a label to send the one you have in.
Thanks, will do. I’ll get a picture and start a ticket tonight after work.
