Hi all, I’ve had my framework 16 for around nine months now and have been loving it. I’ve run into an issue though where my trackpad no longer works? It’s been sort of spotty the last few weeks where it would occasionally not work but then start working again. As a sidebar, I noticed that every time the trackpad would stop working my CPU usage would spike drastically, and would then go back down to idle when the trackpad started working again. Additionally, it could be fixed by removing the trackpad input module and putting it back again. This led me to believe there was potentially a software issue.

However, it now does not work at all, no matter how many times I reseat the trackpad or reboot my computer. Which makes me think maybe it was hardware after all. Weirdly though, the keyboard still works fine, and normally when you disconnect the trackpad input module the keyboard is disabled as well. Has anyone else had their trackpad go out on them nine months after getting it? Any additional troubleshooting steps you guys recommend?

Edit: tried it on my windows boot, and it doesn’t work there either. So almost certainly hardware

TLDR:

- trackpad started working intermittently

- every time I had an issue with it CPU usage would spike

- now doesn’t work at all, despite reseating trackpad or rebooting, or on another OS (windows)

- keyboard still works

Thanks in advance for any advice

I spend most of my time on a thunderbolt dock. This past stretch, I hadn’t been off dock since kernel 7.1.x (Fedora 44 + Gnome). Just yesterday, I discovered I also have no touchpad. I’m not sure if this is a kernel regression yet.
