I’m on a Framework 13 with AMD 7040 mainboard- I normally run Debian 13 as my OS of choice, but needed a windows installation for some software WINE couldn’t work with.
I decided to try installing Windows To Go on a storage expansion card I wasn’t using for anything. On a friend’s PC, I installed Windows 10 to the expansion card using Rufus, and was able to boot it without a problem through the UEFI settings.
I then tried installing the Framework driver bundle so I could access the network, which is where the issues came up. After installing, the machine reset and bluescreened, giving me an INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE stop code. This has happened twice now- the first time I connected to the internet using my phone in USB tethering mode to download Microsoft’s own drivers, first.
I know I probably should just install Windows 11, and this might be caused by using an older version, but I was wondering if anyone else has tried this and if there’s an easy fix for this that I’m missing.
