UCSI PPM failed to complete UCSI command (PpmReset)

My USB has stopped working this morning, following a Windows update July 14, 2026—KB5101650 (OS Builds 26200.8870 and 26100.8875) | Microsoft Support which happened on boot.

Device Manager says:
"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

UCSI PPM failed to complete UCSI command in a timely manner. Please contact UCSI device or system manufacturer to investigate. (Command:PpmReset)"

I’ve tried “full power reset”, checked that Fast Startup is disabled, uninstalled and reinstalled the device.

Now I’ve noticed that there’s an updated BIOS released within the last couple of weeks, so I’m going to try updating that next.

cGPT suggests that Dell machines experienced similar issues and guided me to the follow “Optional Update” July 14, 2026—KB5101650 (OS Builds 26200.8870 and 26100.8875) | Microsoft Support If the BIOS Update doesn’t help, I’ll try that. Always reluctant to make too many changes to fix a problem of unknown etiology.

Has anyone else experienced similar issues with this latest Window Update and Framework 13 Intel 11th Gen?

  • Which OS (Operating System)? Win 11 Pro Version 10.0.26200 Build 26200
  • Which Framework product (Laptop 13) and which generation of CPU (Intel 11th gen)

Fixed with the BIOS Update if anyone else suffers the same
