Randomly, while working on projects, or just sitting idling, the volume will sometimes go from mute (which was set using FN - F1) to 90% randomly. This happens periodically and is pretty annoying especially during class.
I am using:
$ pactl info | grep -E 'Server Name|Default Sink'
Server Name: PulseAudio (on PipeWire 1.4.10)
Default Sink: alsa_output.pci-0000_c4_00.6.analog-stereo
Recreate
Unsure how to recreate, I set my volume to mute then randomly it shoots up to 90%
Please let me know if theres any additional information I can provide. Thanks!
Boot up a live cd/live USB of ubuntu or any other distro and mute the sound and wait and see if it occurs there too, if not. Then it could just be the fedora distro having something. But if it happens again, try mute and detach keyboard and wait. If sound remains muted after few hours and nothing happens then, it’s the keyboard being faulty and doing it. Since keyboards can start acting up when they wear down or get dirt inbetween the keys etc.
That’s really odd. I’d probably have you test similar to what @JakeSully suggested. If that doesn’t resolve, give support a shout. The Linux Team should be able to help.
