dope!
Can you add mounting points to the PCB? Maybe shared with the webcam module if it makes sense?
I added a screw hole and small notch to hold the PCB in, and I’m currently designing the enclosure so I’ll post some photos of that soon.
I will be happy with just a ffc-cable to usb adaptor as I’m thinking of using it as a camera for my 3D printer.
Could you also do such a simpler, cheaper module?
With the new, better webcam module available, I don’t see any webcam → USB to be able to use the webcam and mic separately in another system. Does anyone know of one out there? Or is this something that’d need to be built by someone?
@Josh_Cook is working on one.
Oh, neat, thanks. Hopefully that PCB can be miniaturized.
But how about if I only need the camera?
Prototypes arrived with FFC cable, now to finalise the enclosure and produce these modules, I forgot to specify the USB resistors in my CPL and BOM file so I had to add some bodge wires, which is why there is solder mask added to the PCB.
I’ll post another couple photos with the enclosure once it’s done
Any news? Josh, you are the best!
Been struggling with the firmware as usual for any of my products, same situation as my CAN bus expansion card, hardware works great but I can’t make firmware to save my life!
I recently replaced my webcam module due to ‘difficulties’ with my microphone and was interested in finding a way to reuse my old webcam. This project is exactly what and how I was wanting to reuse the module.
I’m unfortunately not in the EU and was wondering if it is possible that I would be able to purchase this from Canada
I really like the look of your project and want to wish you the best for the rest of your development
Love this. Upgraded to the new webcam module and it’ll be great to reuse the old one. Keep us posted!
Would it be possible for you to open source the schematic, PCB, and current firmware @Josh_Cook? I was thinking of doing a project like this myself, but having a design already made would be an excellent start. I only ask since it seems like progress has stalled.
Even if it’s just the design files, I’d be happy to write the firmware myself.
