About to swap out the liquid metal in my laptop, as it seems to be reaching a tipping point. However, I just noticed that battery disconnects are no longer part of the directions for swapping out the liquid metal. Is there a reason for this?
Which guide are you following? I’d follow this one: https://guides.frame.work/Guide/Liquid+Metal±%3E+PTM+7958/402
^ This guide does direct you to remove the battery. I suppose you could perform the operation without taking the mainboard out of the chassis, but I wouldn’t do that, so diconnecting the battery is a must.
The guide is good. Also make sure you read the whole guide, and all the “comments” before you start.

Whoops, ambiguous. I meant the option you find in the BIOS titled battery disconnect.
Why would you need to do that? You aren’t putting your laptop into long term storage.
