Sorry if I’m missing something obvious, but what is the value added from the Framework desktop over a regular desktop? To me it seems like it’s the same thing but even less repairable (although from my experience desktops are very resilient), less upgradable and less modular. Yet I see many people being enthusiastic about it. Who is it for? Am I missing something obvious?

The memory bandwidth and the amount of VRAM (> 100 GB) you can assign to GPU-intensive tasks.

Right on. The only reason I am interested is the greater memory bandwidth. The Ryzen line is starved by its 2-channel memory architecture, and the Threadripper with 4 or 8 channels cost arms and legs.

Oh, and if you’re a Windows user, you get the 40+ NPUs to get you into Copilot+ features. You cannot build a desktop atm to meet that criteria as far as I know
