Framework is making one such “dongle-hider” USB-A Expansion Card. I don’t think it’s out yet. But it should be available around the time the Framework Wireless keyboard starts selling, as that was a driving force for it. Maybe subscribe to Frameworks newsletter to know when it becomes available. Welcome to the forum.
Any update on that?
A dual-USB-2.0 port would be very useful, just for input devices like mouse, keyboard or even slow usb sticks, all fine!
Others might be limited in size of course.
I personally would also love a way to put a dongle inside but I guess that “Thinkpad T430 stuff” is a relic of the past
FW13 does have the 3.5mm, idk what you’re talking about..
Thanks! There was none on the pics. So that dongle is actually just some audiophile stuff XD is the default jack bad or something? Like static noise when recording? Some have that, while output is fine.
The FW 13 and FW 13 Pro have a built-in audio jack, but the FW 16 does not, so I think that is probably the main use-case.
The product page does claim to offer a better performance compared to the FW 13 built-in one, though anyone wanting an audiophile experience would probably be better off with a DAC from a decent audio brand.
I’d like a 50 pin Centronics SCSI-1 port adaptor so I can use that flatbed scanner with the centronics to centronics lead that I haven’t thrown away for 27 years. Might need to stand proud of the laptop just a little.
yubikey, that would not pop out ![]()
