I’ve got a laptop 12 that I’ve been using for almost a year now, been running arch linux on it, usually works great. A few weeks ago, one night, the wifi just slowed down to under a kb/s. All my other devices were fine. Very weird. I just pulled out my ethernet adapter and plugged into the router. Someone in my house suggested it could be the lightning storm that was just starting up. I looked it up, and apparently lightning can sometimes mess with wifi signals. Anyway, a few hours later it was back to normal, but tonight the same thing is happening. Wifi speed is down to like 500 b/s and there’s a massive lightning storm outside. Has anyone else had this problem? All my other devices are fine, it’s just the laptop 12 that is experiencing this issue.
The FW12 is just weird with electricity as far as I can see. It needs 9V or more to charge over USB-C, so cheap small phone chargers and some powerbanks don’t work at all with it. When I plug in a 9V charger, the trackpad and touchscreen become ever so slightly harder to use, as if something is interfering with them. At higher voltage level charging this issue doesn’t happen.
So based on my experience I’m willing to bet that this is some kind of shielding problem that your other devices are handling fine but the Framework 12 isn’t for some reason. Because it has these sorts of issues in other places too.
