Windows 11 install corrupted after driver bundle install

I have installed Windows 11 twice. I download the driver bundle and install it. Upon reboot it goes into recovery mode. It tries to repair but can’t.

:frowning:
Update: it does boot into safe mode.
Update 2: Nuked all OEM drivers and things with bangs in device manger… then windows booted. Trying to install drivers discretely instead of whole bundle. If I figure out which one is killing it, I will report back.
Update 3: Installing drivers manually, things are working fine. I did not install the “Foxconn aka Mediatek” drivers, because well… garbage. I will be removing that card soon.

I really hate Windows 11, I just have a few things that only exist in Windows. The Fedora 42 KDE install went smooth with one exception. The default power profile sucks for a desktop. It puts the system to sleep while I was literally using it via ssh. Then USB did not come back online and I had to hard reboot.

Not having corruption issues, but on win server 2025 I can’t clear 4 items out of device manager, and i can’t get any AMD software to install. The pro stuff that works on server does not like the 395, and the desktop stuff will only install on win 11…even though server 2025 runs all know win 11 drivers.

Do you have Secure Boot disabled? Then I would bet it’s the AMD DRTM Boot Driver acting up like it did for me - I would recommend to get rid of it in safe mode and not install it at all (you can unpack the driver pack with 7zip and remove the driver setup call from the install.bat), I couldn’t see any user facing purpose it serves.

You could try running “wine” or windows in a VM on top of Fedora. You would not need to worry about drivers then.

There were reports some time ago of the drivers file being corrupted during download sometimes. You can check its sha checksum to see if your download is OK.

Yes, TPM hidden and secure-boot disabled. Used Rufus to bypass the checks. There is nothing more butt puckering than “Bitlocker locked until you supply an unlock key” MS ransom ware.
