Windows Media Creation tool amateur question, regarding Apple PCs

I have written this carefully, to help you help me. Thank you very much.

essence:

For my multiple ‘Framework 13’ PCs, i need to download Windows to a USB stick.

But Microsoft’s Windows Media Creation tool download won’t run sufficiently, at least on the one pc i have that is working. It’s a non-Framework pc.

So, is it a reasonable idea for me to go to a friend’s place to again try the same process, but using their Apple pc?

details:

I guess we should limit this thread to the above Apple question; i.e regarding the broader problem with the Media Creation tool, i might do a slightly different posting later.

The tool’s download won’t run, beyond the first screen or 2.

The tool is already downloaded, to my one working pc. The pc: is a Hewlett-Packard ‘x360’ pc: has been restarted just before use of the Media Creation tool; has Windows 10; is using its sole Windows User Account, which is an Administrator of the pc; just has the following malware software, both of which were turned off before use of the Media Creation tool: Windows Defender and Windows Security.

I found the Media Creation tool’s downloaded exe file in the downloads directory [C:\Users\HwD\Downloads], and ran the exe file as Administrator.

Then the pc asked, ‘Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?’. I of course chose Yes.

Then the tool usually shows a screen that is white with blue lettering, ‘Windows’, which leaves the screen after a second.

Then there is no sign of the tool, including no error message.

I have done a fair amount of research. I know that the tool’s running has problems.

If the tool has problems, why not abandon MS’ Media Creation tool for Rufus or UNetBootIn so that you can create an installation USB from the Windows DVD ISO image?

K3n.

The Windows Media Creation tool will not run on an Apple computer running macOS.

I don’t think you should need to run the Media Creation tool as “Administrator” explicitly, try just running it normally. (EDIT: you also shouldn’t need to disable Windows Defender, for a tool from Microsoft! and Windows Security is just the UI collecting firewall, defender, etc)

Try using Rufus instead, you probably want to do that anyway because it gives you an option to skip the Microsoft Account sign-in requirement during windows install.

If you really want to use an Apple macOS computer, you’ll have to use a different tool like GitHub - TechUnRestricted/WinDiskWriter: 🖥 Windows Bootable USB creator for macOS. 🛠 Patches Windows 11 to bypass TPM and Secure Boot requirements. 👾 UEFI & Legacy Support

Thank you very much to the above repliers. I have progressed this bad situation one step, to:
