first computer we had was the Amd 486 Dx2 66Mhz (with the turbo button that dropped it to 33mhz) , due to a ban on games, after my dad had spend a week or so trying to finish captain comic, all i could do was learn to program on it,… unfortunatly for me learning BASIC , instead of C (took me years to overcome that).
Started using linux in 2003 with the launch of RedHat 8.0 Psyche.
over the first year i had done the distrohopping thing , suse , mandrake, debian , … i landed on a newish distro at the time : Arch. installing went fine but could not get head or tails to the thing called the AUR… so failing that i installed GENTOO and that is sitll my main distro on all my systems. 2004->2024.

so yes the only reason that i ever installed gentoo was because i failed at getting arch to work (no documentation at the time , and gentoo had plenty paperwork to print out for during the installation :))
