I really regret not ordering the regular laptop and then pre-ordering the screen. I’m up against a time crunch and wouldn’t mind spending the extra money to get it sooner.
I’m seeing screens being shipped out and received already.

Well depending on how bad of a time crunch you’re on, to my knowledge the email regarding payment for the pre-order hasn’t been released and batch 1 laptops are just now being recived, so there is still probably a wait. But if you really need a laptop there should still be time to cancel your pre-order get a laptop with the regular screen then pre-order just the screen. There are downsides like you won’t be in batch 2 anymore so the wait for the screen will be longer but the laptop it self should ship out within 5 days again personally I wouldn’t do it since I’m assuming you’ve already waited this long what’s a little bit longer, but if you’re time crunch is serious it’s always an option

Yup first fw (as they just opened shipping to finland few months back).
Going to install CachyOS on it (tuned Arch Linux) to squeeze out all the optimisations of it

I have 64GB of ram for this laptop and I’m hoping to figure out how to dedicate half that memory to the 780M for running my neural net test bed on a laptop. Very excited
Eagerly waiting for my ryzen 7840 setup to ship.
I have not decided the first OS install yet, but thinking about Fedora - both due to official support and to try out something new. Been using Debian for a while in different machines, but dont wanna use Ubuntu.

I would guess they are going to start the charging tomorrow as the prep email stated to do changes till 25th (today,sunday). Anyways, won’t be long now (and still it is

While searching to see if Linus Tech Tips has tested the new display yet, I found this.
I watched it and I think I found out how all of these new displays are breaking at the 1/3 mark… Wow! This guy is pretty lucky he didn’t break his.
If you don’t want to watch, at 7:15 into the video, he goes back in because he realized his bezel isn’t flush. He didn’t have the display harness routed correctly. He then removed 2 of the 4 display screws, pried the display up, and reroutes the cable. Yikes!
I’m not trying to hate on this guy. I just found him at random while searching framework 2.8K display.
It’s almost 8 AM in Taiwan. Charge notices inbound?
The issue is an error in conception of those new screen ? Or juste error of lot a peaple trying to install it ?
