1260P DIY ordered 19th June to UK.
Well they finally took my money!
I’ve updated the spreadsheet.
Mine (1280p diy, 64G, 1TB) arrived on Sept. 12th.
Had to go on a business trip the day after. I’m so happy it arrived then. Fortunately I stayed at home and worked remotely.
I saw that it arrived in my city that night, but didn’t get a notification it would be delivered until 9:45am. Way too late if I had left for work.
It arrived in perfect condition. I had to plugin the keyboard backlight. Could be that I disconnected it when I opened the laptop. Got overexcited and didn’t unscrew the middle screw. No further damage.
Sadly didn’t have wifi at my hotel. So couldn’t do much. But it looks and feels good. There is a rim on the bezel I didn’t notice on any photos. Looks a bit weird at first. For a moment I thought it needed to be flipped . Thought about it and it appears to seal the laptop when closed. Might even be a nice idea.
Now I’m going to play around with it. Good luck to everyone!
Still setting it up for its job. It is crazy fast and I love it. Sending this message from my old laptop(still not fully moved) made me realize how good is to use a 3:2 screen over 16:9. As of now, no issues.
I finally got mine too. It’s been delivered a while ago, but I was on the road.
Initial impressions are good, only issue is that linux desktop is still awesome Coming from a Mac, it look like it will take some time to everything working in the way I want.
Finally received my 1260p today. I hope it was worth the wait. Installing linux has proven to be a bit more troublesome than I expected. The Solus Plasma ISO won’t boot.
Received my 1260p today
For some reason the package took a flight from Cologne to Paris yesterday morning and then from Paris back to Cologne yesterday evening (living in Germany). FedEx again…
…the package…collecting air miles on your behalf.
I received my DIY 1260p this morning \o/
It was ordered on 2022-07-20 and shipped to France. I added an entry to the spreadsheet.
My FrameWork has arrived on Monday 19-09-2022.
At last
My laptop has come along
My lonely days are over
And life is like a songOh yeah yeah
At last
Ordered June 6, arrived September 22 - spreadsheet updated!
I’ve just received my Framework too today, it was supposed to arrive next monday. In total took just 3 days to deliver based on T&T.
I finally received my Framework on Monday.
I have some clicking happening close to the hinges when lifting the screen at normal and fast speed (slowly opening it is quiet), I’ve contacted support about this so let’s see.
Installing my NixOS root on tmpfs setup went a little too smoothly that it was boring and I had nothing to tweak Everything is working well and I love the screen aspect ratio! I was a little scared it would be too glossy for me (judging from complaints) but it really hasn’t bothered me too much (I was previously coming from a glass touch screen laptop so that could be why).
So all in all I’m happy with my purchase so far.
Display and / or webcam cables scratching the bezel opening / hole.
It does seem to be coming from the webcam and wifi antenna side and the bezel is lifting slightly there in closed position. Do you have any idea how to fix this?
@arnar did you hear the sound while moving the lid with the laptop dissembled(aka keyboard removed). I heard some sound, but it was from the lid touching the screws.
No this is coming from the wifi antenna wires moving around when changing from closed to open position I think. It’s the first thing I noticed about the laptop before I even opened it up.
I have also noticed what you mentioned though once I did have it open.
I found the cause of this issue. The webcam cable was routed under the hinge instead of over it like is shown in the hinge replacement guide.
After a semi-risky operation where I unscrewed the hinges on the body side and only unplugged the webcam cable, I could move the cable around the hinge where it now sits on the same side as the wifi antenna wires.
Now it only has a slight (half a millimeter or so) gap between the body and the bezel in the closed position but there is no click anymore when lifting the display.
I’m guessing the click must have been the bezel clicking into place when opening and the webcam cable was no longer in the way.
Edit: The pictures are before the fix
Did you check the cable for damage?
I can’t really see anything after a visual inspection. As the bezel is only held in with magnets there wasn’t really any real pressure on the cable I suspect.
Anyway I have tested that both the camera and the microphone are working correctly.
