I received my official shipping email this morning at 3:00 a.m. CDT. Fedex estimates delivery to the Texas area this Wednesday (day after next). We’ll see but I’m very excited!
Hope the rest of you 155H sub-crew get your shipping email soon. Good luck!
Same for me, my laptop is on it’s way from Taiwan with Fedex ! Expected to arrive Thursday, I can’t wait
I’m going to bring it to the fab lab in my town and put it together with friends there as they are curious about it. They ask me every week since july when I’ll get it
I just checked my FedEx delivery status to see where my shipment was and it’s travels between South Korea and Texas. I see that FedEx had updated my shipping date from tomorrow to today between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. CST. I jumped up, locked my work computer ran to my truck and drove 45 minutes back to my house. So now I’m sitting here waiting for FedEx to show up and ring my doorbell in the next 30min.
Looks like I’ll be populating my nvme and RAM modules and pre-installing my OS in between calls meetings and work tickets today. Mwahaha
Oh yeah… just in time for MY BIRTHDAY (joke @x12Mike )! Delivered at 11:10AM CST today (Tuesday, 10/01/2024. Original delivery date was supposed to be tomorrow).
I don’t know if the batch numbers line up exactly, but I ordered a 155H mainboard, and I just got the email about my batch starting. It should ship sometime between 4 days and 3 weeks from now. Not bad considering I ordered it 12 days ago.
What are you DOING reading the instructions, Destroya? Just keep driving around until you figure it out or you run out of gas. Them’s the rules as set down by our fathers!! 1!
I was scared for a second, assuming we forgot to add “install the driver bundle” step on the installation guide jokes aside, please follow the guides y’all.
So do we, the Batch 2 Intel Core Ultra Series Guild members, all have our laptop and mainboard only deliveries now?
I must say that I’m enjoying my 155H DIY so far. There were two issues discovered after I got it up and running.
The first is that my clear ANSI keyboard spacebar has the right LED out. I’ll contact support about that. Other than the LED the keyboard works so it does not stop me from all the typing I want to do.
The second was that I wasn’t getting any sound. I thought it may be a driver issue but reinstalling the driver set @Destroya reminded me about above did not change anything. So I popped the top and found the Speaker-to-MB plug just resting inside the white socket. I just had to push it in all the way and audio works great now!
This 13" size and weight fit my preference much better than my FW16. I like them both but I don’t like traveling with a larger/heavier laptop most of the time. The FW16 will be more for gaming or heavy photo/video editing. The only thing I wish the FW13 inherited from the FW16 is the RGB keyboards. Perhaps that may be an option in the future. The current backlit white only is okay but when I take my FW13 to work and want to impress my co-workers, that is one less thing I can brag about.
Color coordinated bezel and I/O modules is a nice touch though. Rocking greens on my FW13. Thinking about rocking Orange on my FW16 in the future (defaulted to black for now).
I hope everyone has received theirs and are enjoying them with little to no issues. Its been great waiting and conversing with this group!
So far, I’m enjoying my FW13 155H except the battery is draining faster than my previous 11th gen intel laptop from 2021 so I’m a bit disappointed about that. Also still getting used to the 3:2 screen after years of using 16:9. I caught myself few times thinking I’d be happy with a larger screen (I mostly code, and to my taste it’s nice to be able to show long lines without scrolling). But as I mostly work connected to a 21:9 monitor it’s not so important, and sometimes I also feel the convenience to show more content before having to scroll down.
Speaking of the screen, I can’t say I’m impressed by the 2.8k screen. It doesn’t feel better than my previous 1920x1080 screen for readability or comfort to me, so maybe I should have chosen the older screen to have more battery life if I’m not super sensitive to that.
But after some critics, here is what I’m supper happy about :
it handles my 2x48GB DDR5 Kit from Crucial perfectly and I love it ! I could not bear anymore being limited by my 16GB soldered RAM from my Lenovo Yoga.
It was very easy to build my DIY version and I feel super confident for future upgrades or repair, not like previous laptops experience where you feel like you can kill your laptop on any wrong move !
camera is much better than my Yoga slim 7
sound is also much better
I love the expansion cards system and already want to make my own ones
I really like the keyboard, especially the “soft” feeling of the material used for the keys
touchpad is waaaaay better than my yoga one which was already decent
I like to play games time to time, and 11th gen intel was very limited. Here it’s a big improvment on that point of view and opens possibilities to play much more games than before. I can finally play Final Fantasy VII Remake that I bought nearly 3 years ago
Overall, no regrets, I’m very happy with my choice
