I just placed my order for an Intel Core Ultra. I noticed Batch 1 was sold out and I would be in Batch 2. No one has created a Guild thread so let me stand in and welcome all you Core Ultra Batch 2 brothers and sisters!
I already own an FW16 with AMD chipset (First AMD system I have ever owned). I really enjoy it but it is a bit bulkier than what I’m used to. I normally buy ASUS 13"/14" laptops. I even bought the discrete AMD graphics module but ended up buying just the fan blank to lighten it up and shrink it just a tad (~1" shorter). I also bought the DBrand skin for the top lid and touchpad which is a high rez photo of the inside w/o the mid-plate (the FW13 skin does not offer the touchpad add-on for some reason). It catches attention when I take it to work. I have it dual booting Zorin Linux and Windows 11 Pro for Workstations edition. I’ve had no issues with it, well, other than to hand pick the M.2 nVME 2230 and 2280 drives I wanted to run it on that perform well and won’t roast each other.
I can’t wait for the Ultra to arrive sometime in August. I plan to start with just Windows 11 Pro for Workstations but may split the nVME drive and dual boot it with Zorin as well since my FW16 has been pretty flawless so far.
Cheers for now and thank you, Framework, for continuing to innovate and grow. Just please keep in mind to maintain a good QA team. I’m sure most of us don’t mind waiting a little bit longer so you have time to make sure everything is just right. Nothing more infuriating than buying a brand new something then find out when you get home that the fit and finish are poor or the thing errors all the time or perhaps doesn’t even boot.

I have been lurking here since the beginning. Almost ordered the first generation Framework 13, ordered the first AMD Framework last fall and then canceled it again… all because of the display and because I ultimately never wanted to compromise on fractional scaling. I always said… if it wasn’t for the display I would switch to Framework.
Now it’s finally here - a usable (at 2x) display for the Framework 13
The problems and hickups with the AMD platform I read about in this board seem not to diminish since it was released so I went with the newest Intel one (albeit not being as good as the 780m the integrated Arc graphics should be sufficient for the games I want to play)
The above image is a clean screenshot but is larger here than in the settings GUI, so clicking on the image will enlarge it and make it even more misrepresentative, but do that to see the clarity even when zoomed in beyond reality.

I ordered a Core Ultra FW 13 for my son going into 8th grade. The school computer he had last year is horrendous. I wanted to get him a Framework 13 for a school computer, since I know that it’s something he could use all through high school and probably through college.
I personally have a FW 13. I bought it used with an i5 and upgraded to the AMD mainboard when that was released.
School starts for him in about a week and a half so it’s looking like I’ll need to install Windows on my laptop and let him use it until his comes in, considering I haven’t heard anything about a delivery date. I considered dual booting, but I think it’ll be simpler to image it to a backup, wipe it out, and install Windows. Then, when his comes in I can image my laptop (with the Windows install), and restore it onto his laptop; then I just need to transfer the license. Should work beautifully.
On the topic of fractional scaling: I run Fedora KDE at 150% scaling and it’s a perfect resolution for my needs.
I also use my dual boot Zorin Linux side at fractional 150% and have no problem on my FrameWork 16 AMD laptop. I’ll have to see how well it works on this new smaller FW13 display.
Did any of the Batch 2 folks get their preparing email yet? I am on Batch 3 (after downgrading to Core Ultra 5 125H) and wondering if Batch 2 is delayed (remember reading in one of the reddit threads)
I ordered mine in June and I’m in Batch 2. I was hoping to hear something in August but I haven’t heard anything yet. Kinda hoping mine shows up before my birthday in early October
I’m in Batch 1 and while I got the “Preparing your batch” email about a fortnight ago I haven’t been charged on the card or received any other updates. Makes me wonder how much longer the Batch 1 let alone Batch 2 crew will be waiting!
Found an update on reddit. So, it looks we can expect an official update.
Apologies for the miss on this. We’re digging into what happened here, but in our internal systems Batch 2 is marked as being Q3 2024, rather than August 2024 like we had set Batch 1 as. However, it seems that there must have been a location where that was mis-set, as we’re seeing threads like this stating the expectation was August. It’s unfortunately a US Holiday on Monday, so we may not be able to root cause this and get messaging out to everyone in Batch 2 until Tuesday.
Nice find, I’m also looking forward to the update. When I ordered it said Q3, but recently it said August on the website so I was hoping to hear something at least
My order summary in my Framework account still says “Ships August”. It’s September 2nd now. An e-mail about delays and not being able to keep the promised date like a week ago or something like that would have been nice and seemed professional.
Hoping that I find some random ass comment on a third party message board (not even Framework’s own??) seems unprofessoinal…
@Robert_Hofmann lol, just got a message for batch 2 after reading your post, which seemed like it was directly in response to reading this thread. I was planning on considering cancelling my order at the end of the week, so at least the FW team responded within a somewhat reasonable time-frame. Says they’re going to start shipping Sept 9, so… hopefully that will actually happen close to that time for our orders.
I received my prep e-mail yesterday as well. I noticed the discussion concerning the August vs Q3 ship date time frame. I’m okay with the delay on this one as I already have the 16" to work on. I’m sure it’s a little frustrating to those ordering their first FW. Or sometimes how I am when I’m almost pacing by the door waiting for Amazon to bring me my box because my phone alert went off 20min ago saying it was only 10 stops away. LOL
My FW16 shipped really fast once the ship e-mail came out. Hopefully our Ultra 13s are the same.
No Payment or Shipping e-mail yet. They said they would start shipping today, Sept 9th? Hopefully we get Payment e-mails sometime this week and quickly after the Shipping e-mail. Good luck and have fun!
only got email on 3rd september saying the batch is beeing prepared and that they’ll start shipping from 9th september. Hopefully shipping this week ! At least I got today my new 2TO SSD and 2x48GB DDR5 that I’ll be using in my new framework
