Black Screen after suspens on Framework Laptop with AMD GPU and KDE Plasma (Arch Linux)

Hello everyone,

Im running Arch Linux with KDE Plasma on my Framework Laptop with the Ryzen 7040. Im experiencing an issue where, after the laptop enters suspend mode (e.g when closing the lid), the screen goes black (backlight still on), but the system is still running. I can hear sounds and adjust volume, but nothing shows on the display. Ive tried switching to different virtual consoles, but the screen stays black. The laptop does not freeze entirely, just the display stays off.

I suspect this is related to power management or graphics driver issues with AMD on Linux.

If anyone has experienced similar issues or can suggest workarounds, I would really appreciate your help!

Thank you!

I checked my logs and there might be following error related to my problem:
“xhci_hcd 0000:…: Refused to change power state from D0 to D3hot”

Could you provide a more complete journal/dmesg? Which Kernel?
It might explicitly say which piece of hardware or driver prevents the system from entering standby.

I think I had a similar issue and it might have been related to the AMD/MediaTek Wifi module and was solved by replacing it with with the Intel AX210 module + latest Kernel 6.16.0-rcX.
