When will the CAD for the FW16 be released? I am making a custom chassis/liquid cooling setup for it and would like CAD specs. I see CAD is available for the expansion bay and the input modules, but nothing of the rest of the device yet.
CAD models for the chassis?
To be honest, it might be awhile. If I recall, they did say that they wanted to provide models for the Framework-13, but well, it hasn’t happened yet. We have to remember that Framework is still a small company, and they are trying to do a lot, have done a lot. Some things have to be deprioritized.
I am unwell to say this, but it’s a company, which wants and needs to be profitable in the long-term. This can lead to promising one thing and delivering something else as seen by MANY big companies already…
So far Framework are very transparent and trustworthy of their word and i am happy to see this company grow but that doesn’t mean that in some cases they will change their mind.
We can only hope the best

I believe there are already CAD models for at least most parts of the chassis under the 13 section of the github. They did deliver on that.
Why would they need to deprioritize it due to their size though? They have the files already, you can’t mass manufacture anything like this without CAD.
We don’t know if the drawings are final, though, or if during production start some optimizations become necessary. Wait for the final product and release that.
Battery, display, mainboard case CADs, 2D drawings of the mainboard are there, but I do not see any CAD for the chassis.

Not because of the size. Just because there are limited resources and everything takes some amount of time, taken away from other priorities. Maybe they worked with a partner on the chassis, and it needs to be cleared with them. It may just come down to not being a big demand for it, vs other things.
