Different trackpad panels?

Some ideas for different trackpad panel replacements:

  • Trackpad with physical buttons at the top
  • Trackpad with physical buttons at the bottom

Suggestions for people who use a mouse 100% of the time, and would rather have no trackpad but something else useful instead:

  • Programmable macropad
  • Programmable sliders e.g. for volume, brightness…
  • A knob that can be used as a Spacemouse for CAD

I would like a trackpoint (like a thinkpad) with physical buttons. I would be happy even if the trackpoint is under the space bar (where the trackpad normally is) instead of in the middle of the keyboard.

I would kill for a trackball module for the laptop. Unless the trackpad is Macbook nice, I’d prefer a trackball to anything else.
