DIY replacement bottom cover for Framework 13

Hey, y’all!

I am a broke college student with a broken bottom cover. Epoxy didn’t work, and now one of the bits is sticking out and won’t go back into place. So I am now looking for the cheapest replacement possible for my bottom cover for my Framework 13. I don’t know which generation it is, but I got it in 2023.

Obviously, I can buy a new bottom cover for $99, but I am curious if there are any cheaper options. I have access to a Prusa MKi3 and a MK4, but the only-full sized (not mainboard only) file that I’ve found is @Captain_Pumpkinhead ‘s (link), which is really cool, but it doesn’t look like I could transplant the guts of this laptop and put it in.

Anyone have any ideas, or should I give up and just get the replacement kit?

PS: Is this the right board for this question?

The laptop in question.

I don’t have any better 3d files but maybe you can just cut/dermel/whatever the sticking out bit off and tape it over.

Yeah, I’m thinking that might be my best bet.

also try using aluminum tape (e.g. from a hardware store); made to last and looks a lot better than the tape in your picture, especially if you run it along the whole side.
