Framework 13 - Core Ultra Freeze

I just got my 13 Core Ultra,

Installed Ubuntu 24.04. System Freezes after a few Minutes.

No heavy load, just having Google Chrome open.

After a few Minutes System freezes, screen is standing still, no Mouse or Keyboard Input working. Only pressing power for a few seconds and reboot is working…

Hi @Daniel_Kreiseder,

Congratulations on your Core Ultra machine! Is there anything showing up in the syslog of the machine after you bring it back up? If it happens again, be sure to contact support so they can address it right away with you. Welcome to the community! :grinning:

This is the last message in syslog before the crash

tracker-miner-fs-3[6538]: (tracker-extract-3:6538): GLib-GIO-WARNING **: 19:23:51.221: Error creating IO channel for /proc/self/mountinfo: Invalid argument (g-io-error-quark, 13)

It‘s getting worse.

System freezes and get stuck even after a few seconds after login - even when only a terminal is open. Sometimes I am able to work for a few minutes.

Well, this doesn‘t look good - I have chosen the high end configuration - it seems there is something wrong

Can you check what kernel version you are on?
Core Ultra is bleeding edge, so I wouldn’t be surprised if mainline support is only in 6.9 or 6.10!

Take a look at this link: 3.7.0 - GLib-GIO-WARNING **: 09:27:12.186: Error creating IO channel for /proc/self/mountinfo: Invalid argument (g-io-error-quark, 13) (#315) · Issues · GNOME / LocalSearch · GitLab
This looks like a problem with GLib not your hardware.

Perhaps you may have already tried it, but consider trying other distributions via live USB to rule out the glib issue @Richard_England linked. Or a newer kernel like others have suggested.

6.8.0-41-generic - do I need to update?

tried with 6.10 - still the same

Have you already tried checking if the glib version is different like the suggestion from Richard?
