Framework 16 Charging Efficiency-60W/100W/140W/240W

The ec also overrides the settings whenever you plug in a charger or unplug one, the value you set in umaf is just the hard limit, the soft limits get adjusted all the time.

I can get the 7840u to pull more than 80w for a few seconds (cooling in the 13 can’t cool that for long) but that did take a lot of messing around.

The power supply for the 7840U can handle this power?

If you mean the actual power brick, kinda, a 100w one could probably do it but framework does refuse to pull the full 100 so it dips into battery a little. I have not tried it on battery alone am also not planning to.

If you mean the vrms, looks like it and I’d really hope it got at least thermal shut off or prochot throttling.

Ultimately dumping 80w into the chip on the 13 is not really reasonable and mostly happened by accident (I was testing steady state cooling performance which started around 65w and nicely thermally throttled down to around 45w then I tried cyberpunk and that thing had an extremely spiky load). I leave the power-limits for my highest profile at 65w which can be cooled for a lot longer and does not heat up fast enough to outrun thermal throttling too much, it also doesn’t need to dip into battery as much.

I payed for the whole cpu so I’ll use the whole cpu (sometimes XD).

I mean the thing that converts 20V to CPU voltage(~1V)

geez 80w?? was this in cinebench? the most i can get my 16 to pull is 75w in games as cb will overheat this thing way too fast

Wasn’t 80w sustained and it was from basically pre cooled (maxed fan but nothing going on for a while) in the cyberpunk benchmark. It also outran the thermal throttling and overshot the thermal limit enough to power off, I had to lower the max temp like 10C for the throttling to be able to catch it.

Yeah that’s the vrms
