Hi, I’m posting to get some help with an issue with my keyboard. I’m getting phantom key presses and the keyboard thinks I’m holding down some of the keys I’m pressing. The issue is intermittent, but often enough that my computer is unusable.
I’ve tried resitting the keyboard several times, tightening the midplate, disconnecting/reconnecting the midplate connector, rearranging the keyboard with the spacers to use different contacts, and no success.
I have opened a support ticket but if I could get some help from the community that would be appreciated.
No I don’t have anything running for power savings besides what comes with Windows 11. I tried booting into recovery mode but can’t even type my bitlocker key
Power off the laptop.
Unplug the power cable.
Leave for more than 40 seconds.
Plug back in again and switch on. This should reset the EC.
This might improve the symptom for a while.
Linux has a work around for it. I don’t know of any workaround with windows.
A hint might be that the work around for Linux is to disable the power save features of the keyboard. So, if you can find such a setting on Windows, it might be worth a try.
Another thing to try might be removing the keyboard and attaching it again. That makes sure it has power cycled.
