FW16 Audio module on Linux

A few weeks ago I got a Framework 16 laptop. I have set it up with Arch linux which I have used for many years now.

I got an Audio module, but I can’t make the sound come out of the headphones, it only goes via the speakers. There’s no mention of headphone in alsamixer or visible in qpwgraph, I only see the output Family 17h/19h/1ah HD Audio Controller Analog Stereo.

It appears like the hardware isn’t recognized at all. At least I would expect the module to show up in dmesg and lsusb, but plugging and unplugging the module shows nothing. Do I have a dud, do I need to install something, what could be the issue?

Plugging in headphones does not help, but other threads suggest this is due to power management… will pursue but advice would be appreciated

Apparently the way this works that the USB DAC only powers on when a plug is inserted.

The Framework appears to not work with my Beyerdynamic headphones specifically. If I plug in the cable from my office mate’s Sony headset, it works, but my DT-770 Pros are somehow not recognised. I suppose I’ll have to contact support.
